Queensland Sport Hall of Fame

Mr Brad Beven OAM

Brad "The Croc'' Bevan was a major player in raising the profile of the sport in Australia during his reign in the 1990s and is one of the biggest names in triathlon internationally.

Bevan, who earned his nickname as he trained in crocodile-infested waters near Cairns, was ranked the No.1 triathlete in the world four times, won seven Australian crowns and was a five-time winner of the world-class Formula One series.

He also won three world championship silver medals and was hoping to make the Sydney Olympic team when hit by a car in a training accident.
One of the only major titles to elude Bevan during his illustrious career was a world championship title.

In 2013 Bevan became the seventh member of the Triathlon Australia Hall of Fame where he will join world champions Greg Welsh, Michelle Jones, Miles Stewart, Emma Carney, Loretta Harrop and Jackie Fairweather.
