Ms Sandy Brondello

The former Mackay junior is regarded as one of Australia's all-time best basketball shooting guards. Sandy represented the Opals for 17 years. In 1998 Sandy took up an offer to play in the WNBA for the Detroit Shock, and was selected to play in the first ever WNBA All-Star Game the following year. After finishing her playing career she made a seamless transition to the world of coaching. She was elevated from assistant coach with the San Antonio Silver Stars to become General Manager in 2010.

A four-time Olympian with a decorated club career in the WNBL, Europe and the WNBA, Brondello followed Tom Maher (Washington Mystics) and Carrie Graf (Phoenix Mercury) into head coaching positions.
