Mr Bill Brown OAM

One of the grand old men of Australian Cricket, he was a gentleman whose feats as an opening batsman were exceeded only by his peerless universal reputation. A key member of Sir Donald Bradman’s 1948 ‘Invincibles’, he played 22 Tests from 1934-48, and despite World War II scored 1592 runs at 46.8. He topped 1000 runs on three Ashes tours, and captained Australia in one Test in 1946 in New Zealand. A Queensland Cricket life member, he was a member of the Queensland Team of the 20th Century and served as a Queensland and Australian selector.
